Change Your Thinking

It is life changing

I can recall as many of you may remember growing up in a single family household. However, my mother had ten children to care and provide for. My mother worked two and sometimes three jobs to ensure that we had shelter, food and other essentials. Our environment wasn’t the best given the era during those times but it wasn’t considered to be bad either.

Although my mother instilled great values to my siblings and myself, I developed bad habits in my way of thinking. For instance, a lot of my peers at the time had this idea that they weren’t going to work. If I wanted to be accepted by them then I needed to conform to this way of thinking which I did for years. There were those in the community that had different views about work and those were the people that did better and had more than those that thought like us. I recall sitting on one of the corners that the my crew and I frequented and begin to question why was my world flipping upside down. That was when I decided to change my way of thinking for good. Another thing that I learned from this experience is that my mother understood the importance of having various streams of income to provide for her family, that’s why she was willing to work so many jobs.

While following the negative thinking of others and not doing as my mother taught us I realized a lot of time was wasted on things that had no meaning. The one thing that all humans have in common is time. Depending on how we spend our time will determine our destiny and the future of our families. Let us all give more attention to the way that we think and finding better ways of doing things because our decisions will have a everlasting effect on our lives. Until next time!
