We are experiencing things in our country that we’ve never seen before. Our current Federal Government (Donald Trump) is ignoring the principles of law as well as the U.S. Constitution. There is unrest in the streets of America because of the shooting of un-armed (Black People) by police, and there is also rioting, looting which I do not agree with; however, the question that we should be asking is why? What is causing these turbulent times in our society? It’s very clear that Donald Trump only cares about making himself, his family, and his enter circle wealthier. The New York Times reported over the weekend (9/26/20 and 9/27/20) that is the first year of Trump’s being in the White House, he only paid $750 in federal income taxes, and he paid no taxes if the previous 10 years. Trump is the only president who refuses to release his tax returns so thanks to the New York Times for sharing this information. The un-rest in our streets is because people do not have the resources to care for their families but again I do not support rioting or destroying property. InAdequate resources in certain communities in our society have existed since this country was founded. I understand that if a person starts a business he or she takes the risk, and should receive more of the return from that business but how does a person provide for his family making $7 to $10 per hour, it’s almost impossible to do. Regarding this next point, I want to be crystal-clear, my brother policed for thirty, my cousin was a police officer for thirty years, my nephew is currently a police officer, and many of my friends are law enforcement personal which protects us each and every-day. Who do we call when there is trouble, the police but like anything else, there are bad officers, those that are bad should be held accountable for their bad acts, and the same laws that govern us all should also be the standard that governs police officers. Policing is needed but for all of the right reasons. Policing was started in 1800 to protect the wealthy and in some ways, those practices still exist and should be looked at very closely. It appears to me that the root cause of what’s happening in our society today is no different than the causes which have occurred for years (money), the rich want to get richer while keeping the masses in bondage, and they (Rich) will do anything to protect their empires such as using the police to so do. Love to hear your thoughts on this topic! Marvin Dixon/Founder VMG Review
