It’s quite interesting that one of the most difficult things to do is to get started. Each journey that we travel begins with a single footstep. I recall a time when I noticed that there was an expanding bulge just below my waistline. Because I felt that it wasn’t that noticeable I didn’t pay much attention to it. Shortly thereafter a friend of mine commented on the excess weight in my stomach area. The next day I joined the gym, began working out, and made going to the gym a part of my lifestyle. I got started!
Why is it so difficult to get started? Understanding what the end result will be should be a motivating factor.
However, it’s a bit more complicated than that. For instance, to become a doctor one must embark upon a journey that requires many years of education. In the end, after accepting the challenge one has a sense of accomplishment, pride, the ability to save lives, and ultimately financial independence. Michael Jordan is recognized as the GOAT (Greatest of All-Time) in the NBA. He started his journey after he was not selected for his high school team. He started right then and there to begin working on perfecting his craft. His discipline, hard work, perseverance, and determination elevated him to become the greatest player. In other words, you have to put something in the bank before you can get something out. Many others have mastered high levels of achievement.
To reach high levels of achievement many obstacles must be overcome. You must press on, believe in your dream, and be careful about sharing your dream with those that are naysayers. If this happens, don’t fret. Let your haters be your motivators. In closing, to be great at something you must get started. It won’t be easy. You must put the work in. Ultimately the reward for reaching your goal will be worth the work. In the words of inspirational author Norman Vincent Peale” shoot for the moon”. “Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” KEEP PRESSING ON !!!
