At one time there was lynching
Now it’s shooting
The root cause of the violence and looting
When will America face up to the systemic horrors?
If not today, what about tomorrow
A system built on domination, suffering and pain
The ruling powers had everything to gain
People dehumanized and monetized
All of this amidst their wails and cries
Where is black folks American Dream
It’s just an illusion so it seems
We keep moving on and pushing for equality
When will we be happy, safe and free?
