Thanksgiving

This is the time of year that we give thanks for the many things in life that we’re blessed with. I feel that the sentiment of Thanksgiving should be expressed daily. During this Thanksgiving season, I want to take the time to acknowledge the many people that positively impacted my life in so many ways. To all of you, I want to take this opportunity to say “thank you.” Though my father wasn’t in my life during my formative years we did develop a bond and I am thankful to him for the time he spent with me. My mother made it clear that he was my father and no matter what I would always show him respect. Words cannot express the love and gratitude I have for my mother and what she taught me. I would not be the person I am today were it not for her determination. In some of my previous writings, I spoke of the many sacrifices my mother made for her family, often going without so we could have. Thank you, God, for my mother and her giving spirit.
My thankfulness continues as I recognize each of my siblings who played a pivotal role in my life. My oldest brother, Jerome was our father figure. We all looked to him for guidance. To this day I know I can always depend on him. Carolyn, the oldest of the girls in our family was our mother figure. Carolyn handled the majority of the responsibilities in the household i.e., cooking, laundry, and bill payments as my mother often worked two and sometimes three jobs. There are seven other siblings in my family and each of them has imbued my life with so many valuable life lessons there is no way I can repay them for all they’ve done.
Throughout my adult years, I’ve always aspired to be a good father. My daughter, who was conceived during my young and irresponsible years never ceases to amaze me. As a young father, I showered my daughter with material things feeling that I was fulfilling my role as a father. I did not realize then that spending quality time with your child is what’s most important. Fatherhood has its own set of challenges but I persevered and today I am so proud of the awesome young lady that my daughter has become. Then there’s my wife. She is such an amazing woman. She is truly my soul mate, she’s had my back since day one. This wonderful woman has supported me in all my many ventures over the years. I cannot find words to express how I feel about her.

I must admit that I do not tell her enough how much I love and care for her. We are a true, blended family (my wife, my daughter, my son, and myself). Both my wife and I were parents when we married. Rodney, my son, and I have a special bond. He is and always has been very respectful towards me. He continues to be a very positive force in my life. I am so thankful for my wife, daughter, and son and am blessed to have all of them in my life.
I would be remiss if I did not thank the team at Verifacts Management Group (VMG). Kudos to LaDarius Jackson, Dianne Cleveland-Sharp, and Gary Dickerson (my brother) for their technical and consultative support. Without the aforementioned individuals, I would not be able to utilize VMG’s platform to help others and impart valuable resources and information. In closing, I’d like to send a special thank you to those that follow this blog. Please continue to give us a thumbs up, like, share, and subscribe. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Be safe, be well!!
