Today’s narrative is centered on business ownership but more importantly on the bad practices that occur with many small and upcoming entrepreneurs. I’m a small business owner myself and must admit that I too have had some bad business practices. My work as a private investigator involves gathering information that could possibly alter a person’s future. Some people could be sent to prison for years if the investigation isn’t conducted properly or they could be erroneously charged for a crime that he or she may not have committed. Upon starting in this very challenging but rewarding career I would accept cases knowing that I was a one-person operation that could start work on a case but had difficulty finishing some of the cases. It didn’t take long for me to realize that my work ethics needed improvement and that for me to continue as an investigator and accept money from others it was imperative that I competently do the work.
I think that supporting small businesses is crucial to the development of our economy as well as creating jobs and contributing to the growth of our communities. However, I have witnessed, as many of you may have some of the bad practices that many businesses engage in. Just recently my son decided to have work done on his basement and wanted to support a small business and therefore utilized their services. Do I really have to say what happened? The business owner accepted money for materials and now he (business owner) can’t be reached. I have patronized a small business owned restaurant and had staff act as if they were doing me a favor. However, in reality, I was helping their business.
There are far too many establishments that have bad business practices and wonder why their businesses do not achieve great success. It’s time that we all start dealing with the truth. You can’t just open a business and expect it to do well. You have to earn the respect of those people that make your business successful- your customers. I could go on and on about the bad habits of some business owners and their staff. However, I’m sure that you get my point. Do the right thing when it comes to your business. Perform the service your business was established to do and do it well. Provide your customers with the very best service. Give us a thumbs up, a like, a share, and please subscribe. We want and need your support. Take Care!
