Why are People so Angry

Do you remember when you could leave your doors unlocked at night and not worry about anyone entering your home?  Do you remember walking through the neighborhood and everyone in the neighborhood speaking to each other? Those days are long gone. People today appear to be angry, but why?

This anger can be seen everywhere. In many businesses, the staff members seem to be angry and it’s reflected in their service to the public. Shooting on our roadways has increased as well as the shooting of people for merely looking at someone.  The question is what’s causing this anger? I don’t have the answer but it’s my opinion that learning starts early and it begins with parents. In fairness to most parents, I believe that they make many sacrifices in rearing their children to become productive members of society.  Sometimes despite the many sacrifices outside influences causes children to stray. Some children eventually return to their roots of respect and discipline while others do not.

As parents, we must continue to communicate wholesome, respectful values to our children no matter their age. Additionally, we must not get caught up in the act of trying to be our children’s friends. We must be there as an advisor, mentor, and one who cares and will tell them what they need to hear no matter how painful the lesson.

Anger is a wasted emotion and if not controlled can and will have devastating consequences. Let’s get our emotions under control; anger does not generate positive results. In fact, it causes just the opposite. Let’s start today respecting others by being more aware of and controlling our emotions. Let’s remove anger and replace it with love, caring, patience and compassion.
