Here in America, our country is slowly coming out of an almost year and a half of being locked down. During that time many of us lost family and friends to the COVID 19 Virus.
In addition, many people were isolated, couldn’t see or touch family and friends, and we’re unsure as to exactly how the virus was transmitted.
Some of us were able to have our food and other essentials delivered and did not have to venture out and risk contracting the virus. Some of us were able to work from home. Then many of us needed to keep food on the table and had no choice but to venture out into the COVID-filled world to be able to survive and support ourselves and our families. Well, here we are over a year later. Welcome to our new normal. I feel that we are all traumatized and don’t even know it. We as humans are social animals. We need human contact, socialization, spiritual release, and outlets for stress relief. For over a year we had none of that.
Now the crime rate has risen significantly, there are many cases of road rage, people are increasingly impatient and many continue to suffer financially. There’s a vibe in the air of uncertainty and people are having crazy, knee-jerk reactions to simple things. It’s incomprehensible to me how someone can take another person’s life for simply being asked to wear a mask. God help us all! Trauma is a crazy thing. Sometimes you can have it and not know that you have it. Let us all breathe, be patient and take the time to treat each other with consideration and respect. This past year has been tough. We have experienced many atrocities but we made it through. COVID did not take us out.
We have so many things to be thankful for. Let us count our blessings, shake off the trauma of COVID, love our neighbors, engage in acts of random kindness, and keep the faith.
