Older and Wiser

As one grows older and time passes on there are so many life experiences that come your way. At some point, if you do it right you’ll learn from your many experiences, both good and bad. As a result, you become wiser and life becomes less complicated. You begin to see things from a much more realistic perspective. You will begin to realize what you like, what you don’t like, what you will put up with, and what you want. It’s as simple as that. You realize that love is an action word. You realize that loving yourself is the greatest love of all. In other words, self-care comes first. You can’t do anything for anybody else if you don’t take care of yourself first.

You will begin to truly realize that your body is a temple. You must take care of it. That means not opening up your mind to negativity. Gossip, backbiting, criticizing others, and not helping should not enter into your thoughts. You must acknowledge that to keep your body working properly you must exercise both your brain and your body. Read, surf the internet, do crossword puzzles, Sudoku and whatever else that works the brain muscle. Go for walks, perform exercises that strengthen the muscles, i.e., weight-bearing exercises, and just be creative. In the age of COVID when going to the gym might not be an option for you, there are many exercise videos available online. Watch what you eat, let the detrimental food and drinks go. Taking care of your body builds confidence and generally makes you feel better about yourself. Try it, you’ll like it!

Growing older tends to make you look at things a little differently. You learn to take your time, not be in such a hurry and take time to just smell the roses. If you live your life the right way you will learn what your value is to the world. Everyone that God put here on this earth has something to contribute. Look deep within and find out what your gift is. I guarantee you that if you look deep enough you will discover that you have many gifts; learn to be flexible and not stuck into a certain way of doing things. The old folks used to say “it’s a bad wind that doesn’t change”. The wind that doesn’t change becomes a storm. Don’t be the storm, be the rainbow that comes after the fresh rain. Grab life by the horns. Stay focused, set your mind to what your goals are, and “just do it”. Don’t discuss your dreams with everybody, when you do this and receive negative feedback it can throw you off course. If you have a plan, the motivation, and can secure the resources the sky is the limit. Live your life. That’s what it’s made for. You can achieve what you set out to do. Look at each day as a blessing. View your life as if everything happening is working for your good. Live in the moment and don’t look back. Thanks for your support.
