In this narrative, I want to encourage you to watch a motivational video that was shared with me by an acquaintance. In a speech given by Admiral McRaven who is a Navy Seal, he spoke of things that he learned during Seal training. According to Admiral McRaven, each morning during SEAL training the instructors would come into the barracks and the first thing they would do was to inspect the beds. Admiral McRaven says that the beds had to be made to perfection because the general thought of the instructors was that if you were unable to complete the small things there would be no way you would be able to handle the larger tasks.
Admiral McRaven talked about nine other things he learned during training that he feels would make us all better people. However, completing the Small Things resonated greatly with me. Many of us have small tasks that we do regularly. Sometimes for whatever reason, these small tasks are left undone. Just think about it. We must complete a series of small tasks to eventually complete larger tasks. When small things are left undone this may cause us not to do the things that matter. Not doing the dishes after breakfast or dinner often means that dirty dishes start to accumulate or as Admiral McRaven stated in his speech not making your bed probably means that other household tasks are not being taken care of as well.
The little things in life matter according to Admiral McRaven and if you happen to have a miserable day at least you will come home to a made-up bed. I encourage each of you to go to your search engine of choice, visit YouTube, watch Admiral McRaven’s motivational video, and implement the principles that he shares. I guarantee you It will be life-changing in a positive way. Please give us a thumbs-up, a like, a share, and subscribe.
