In the words of LL Cool J “Don’t push me, I’m close to the edge.” I’m trying not to lose my head.” “It’s like a jungle out here.” “It makes me wonder how I keep from going under.” Everywhere I go there is craziness. While watching the local news here in Atlanta I was moved by a story of a young lady that had car problems. While calling her roommate to come to get her she was struck by a speeding car and pushed over a bridge where she landed and broke bones all over her body. What kind of craziness is this? The streets of Atlanta have become an unofficial racetrack. How uncaring is this? Heaven help us!!
Many of these young people put their life and my life at risk for a momentary thrill. Is it really worth it? When will we get back to being our neighbor’s keeper? Will, there come a time when we will uplift and embrace each other? While growing up in Atlanta it was common for neighbors to help each other and be a source of support. It would be great if we could revert to those old values. What we can do when we see craziness is not buy into it. When the weaving in and out of lanes happens while driving remain focused and if at all possible, get a tag number, try to get a description of the vehicle, and make a 911 call.
The only way that change happens is by everyone becoming involved. Do not get down in the gutter with those that do not want better. We need to make up in our minds that we will not tolerate disruptive behavior no matter where it happens or who it is. We can all do our part to make things a better place by just being present. Be courteous, patient, empathetic, focused, and helpful. Collectively we can thwart craziness and disruptive agendas by remaining calm and always striving for higher ground. And in the meantime, heaven help us all. Thank you for your support.
