Learning to invest can be one of the most impactful things you can do financially and will help you understand money better. It’s not all about the money though. Once you begin investing and understanding how to leverage your money for additional profit, you’ll start to see business in a new light. Right now, the easiest way to begin investing would be through buying stocks. I say this because you can get started today by downloading a stock trading app like Robinhood or Fidelity. Some platforms will even give you your first shares free!
Now, everything comes with a learning curve and stocks are no exception. I recommend watching a couple of youtube videos for beginners, buying a course, and joining a free online stock group through Discord. This way while you are learning more about stocks and getting better at trading you will have support throughout the process the entire time. The more information you consume the better decisions you’ll be able to make when it comes to building your portfolio.
I’ve spent countless hours learning the basics and testing out different trade techniques. The simplest yet profitable technique I found would be one called “swing trading”. Swing trading is buying and holding stock at a low for an extended period (weeks to months) and selling for profit once it reaches your price target. So this is a low-risk high-reward strategy if you’re patient.
Recently, I have spoken to a lot of people about stocks and for the most part, they all thought that investing in stocks was a form of gambling. I had to inform them that investing in stocks is far from gambling once you know what it takes to be a sound investor. For example, to become good at picking stocks you will need to be good at gathering trustworthy information and making informed decisions based on that information. In gambling, there aren’t any financials, charts, or company CEOs to follow on social media. The decisions are all based on luck with no additional information involved.
