Pride

Pride is defined as “a feeling of pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.” Pride is that and much more.
It is getting up in the morning, pulling yourself together, and ensuring you are neat, clean, and well groomed before you leave the house. It is ensuring that your residence is well kept, and repairs are done timely. It is advocating that your elected officials do their jobs and keep your community safe, clean, and free of hazards.

Pride is going to work and doing the best possible job you can do. Pride is not going to work, taking long breaks, and doing everything you can to avoid work. Pride is going to church, listening to the minister talk about good works and going out and walking the walk, and talking the talk. Pride is not leaving church, backstabbing, and backbiting. Pride is being happy for others’ success, not envious when someone succeeds because they worked hard and deserve to be successful. Pride is loving someone enough to allow them to be an individual and not jealous of their associations with others. Pride is believing in yourself enough to realize that whatever it is that you want in the world is out there for you and everyone else.

Go out into the world and be proud!! Remember, what God has for you is for you.
