Alvin Bragg is the current New York District Attorney. On November 2, 2021, he became the first African American and the first person of color elected to that office. He previously served as Chief Deputy District Attorney of New York and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York. He is the 37th District Attorney of New York County. He assumed office on January 1, 2022, and was preceded by Cyrus Vance (Wikipedia).
This narrative is a follow-up to a previous article on Mark Pomerantz who previously served as the top prosecutor for the Manhattan office when Bragg assumed office. According to a New York Times article published on March 30, 2022, Pomerantz questioned Bragg’s decision regarding the investigation of Donald Trump. Mr. Pomerantz resigned after he and his co-counsel were instructed to halt the case and pursuit of criminal charges.
Why is it that the former Prosecutor and the Assistant Prosecutor who worked on the investigation for months felt that there was sufficient evidence for a conviction but were told not to proceed by the Manhattan District Attorney? Glenn Kirshner the writer behind the Times ’article felt that the citizens of New York and the U.S. deserve to know why Mr. Bragg refuses to pursue charges against Mr. Trump. I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Kirshner. The citizens of New York and America need to demand an answer!
