Early Voting

Here we go again, talking about voting. We cannot stress this enough. Early voting started here in Georgia on May 2nd. Just recently a draft copy of an upcoming Supreme Court ruling was leaked. It detailed the eventual overturning of Roe vs. Wade which will restrict most abortions and allow states to make decisions as it relates to abortion. Regardless of where you stand on the issue the choice of abortion is in the hands of the woman and her doctor. You say what does this have to do with voting. The fact of the matter is that Republican-appointed Supreme Court Justices will make the final decision as they are the majority in the court.

The majority are leaning towards overturning this law. How did these ultra-conservative justices get appointed? It happened when Republicans were in control. This relates to voting because Republican voters took their enthusiasm to the polls, but their candidates in office and viola, majority Republican Justices. The concern is that the overturning of Roe is just the beginning of many other laws that will be overturned. What about Brown vs. Board of Education, Loving vs. Virginia, and The First Amendment?

Look what was done to the Voting Rights Act. It was gutted. It might seem overly reactionary, but I do not put anything past the Republican Party here in America. Look at how they are trying to whitewash the January 6th insurrection. We can maintain our democracy by voting for people that have a moral compass and will fight for our rights. With that being said we must vote. Vote early in the event that there is a problem as some districts have changed. Do not take anything for granted. We must stand up and do the right thing. Our future depends on it. Vote early, research your candidates and see where they stand on the issues.
