What’s Taken so Long?

Although the three main offenders in the Ahmaud Arbery murder case have been brought to justice there is still one person remaining. Jackie Johnson was the Glynn County DA at the time of this unprovoked crime. She refused to investigate this incident but instead accepted the McMichael’s version of what happened. Greg McMichael as we all know worked for Jackie Johnson in the District Attorney’s office as an investigator. It was reported that shortly after Ahmaud Arbery was murdered by the McMichael’s, Greg called Jackie Johnson to inform her of the shooting. According to media accounts, Ms. Johnson halted any further investigation by Glynn County Law Enforcement.

Ms. Johnson was indicted in September 2020 and faces charges of violating her oath of office, obstruction, and hindering a law enforcement investigation. I am aware that the pandemic caused court proceedings to be delayed. However, it is two years later, and no court date has been set. It is unacceptable that this woman continues to go unpunished for the crimes she committed. She is as guilty as the three co-defendants in the Ahmaud Arbery murder case. I am hopeful that the State Attorney General’s Office and the Glynn County DA will do the right thing and seek a guilty verdict against her. Let’s all closely follow this case.
