Abuse of Power
People abuse power more than you can imagine. I believe that such abuse
happens often in the workplace. That’s not to say that it’s OK! Abuse no
matter where it happens is not right. When abuse of power occurs in the
halls of justice we all should be concerned about it. On Monday, August 8,
In 2022, Greg McMichael, his son Travis McMichael, and Roddy Bryant were
sentenced in Federal Court for the death of Ahmaud Arbery. This case
made national news due to the modern-day lynching of Mr. Arbery and his
eventual death. Greg McMichaels was a retired Investigator for the Glynn
County Circuit and his boss at that time was District Attorney Jackie Johnson. Ms.
Johnson appointed Greg McMichael as Chief Investigator of her office
there in Glynn County, GA. This workplace abuse of power is one for the
records!
For eight (8) years, 2006 through 2014 Mr. McMichael held the position as
Chief Investigator illegally as his certification was not current and Ms.
Johnson knew it. Police officers are required to keep their certification
current by attending classes yearly, but Greg McMichaels did not do this.
Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) is the agency that tracks all
training of police officers in Georgia. In 2014 McMichael’s certification was
revoked but Jackie Johnson, the District Attorney there in Glynn County,
and McMichael’s boss appealed to POST on behalf of McMichael in an effort
to regain his certifications.
On the day of Mr. Arbery’s tragic death, the first-person McMichael called
was Jackie Johnson. Nothing was done to the three offenders until the
video they filmed was discovered by the press. Ms. Johnson abused her
power as District Attorney of Glynn County Georgia. She will be held
accountable for the cover-up she attempted as charges are now pending
against her. Stay tuned. Thanks for your support. Thumbs up, like, and
