Abusing Taxpayers Dollars

Abusing Taxpayers Dollars

For years we have heard the rhetoric regarding taxpayers’ dollars. The inference is usually
geared towards welfare recipients/people in impoverished communities. There is probably
some amount of minuscule abuse in these communities but not on the scale of some other
segments of society. I recall watching a segment on 60 Minutes years ago where the focus was
on Government Contractors and their billing procedures. These Federal Defense Contractors
were grossly abusing the system. Examples of this abuse were the $150 charges for screws, and
$250 for aircraft toilet seats. I am sure this abuse continues…….
As taxpayers when we elect officials (Senators and Congress Members) to represent us we need
to be savvy consumers and do our research on the character, integrity, and backgrounds of
these individuals. We need to elect individuals that will protect our interests and use our
taxpayers’ dollars to help improve our country and assist not just the rich but also those in
underserved communities.
On October 22, 2022, there was an article published by Richard W. Painter, an MSNBC Opinion
Columnist. He addressed the abuse of taxpayer money by DJT….During his administration, the
federal government paid the cost for Secret Service Agents to travel with the first family.
According to the article, this person is the only president that made money renting rooms to his
Secret Service Protection Agents. The government rate for room reimbursement as of March 8,
2017, was $242 per night. However, during the former president’s administration, a recent
article alleged that taxpayers were charged $1,185. Secret Service Agents visited his myriad
of properties a total of five hundred times during his administration. The cost to taxpayers
from January 20, 2017, through the end of his tenure, was 1.4 million dollars. Most taxpayers
are unaware of this gross abuse of governmental funds. It seems that the powers that be are
okay with this abuse but want to whine and complain about infrastructure and student loan
forgiveness money while they give big breaks to corporations and presidents. The shade of it
all! Thumbs up, like, and share.
