The New Right Wing
A few weeks ago, this platform published an article entitled “We the People”. The
article focused on politicians serving the people. However, today’s politicians
especially those on the right are concerned more about personal gains and
power. The aforementioned traits seemed to take on a lot of steam when
President Obama was elected. At that time Mitch McConnell stated that
Republicans would do everything necessary to make President Obama a one-time
president. In addition, he gave a whole new meaning to the word obstructionist
by doing everything he could to fail the efforts of President Obama. Not thinking
about what was best for the people but laser-focused on power. The lies and
gross disinformation stated then still linger to this day. When politicians on the
right open their mouths, they lie. George Santos was just elected Congressman in
New York state. He was elected to serve in the third congressional district. Fast
forward and from some digging, by an exceptional journalist, it was discovered that
most of his resume was fabricated. His education, work history, religious
affiliation, information about his parents, and many other things about his
background were all lies. Yet the Republican party is eerily silent about this gross
misrepresentation of the facts. Why? Power, that’s it in a nutshell. They don’t
want to lose the newfound power of their acquisition of the majority in the house
of representatives. If they turn a blind eye to insurrection, a gross
misrepresentation of the truth, and election deniers, what next? It’s called a power
grab and it is serious. Personal gain and power are what’s important to the right.
The people elected to serve don’t matter, voting doesn’t matter, and a woman’s
right to choose doesn’t matter. We must continue to encourage everyone
concerned about this country moving in the right direction to vote. We must
select politicians that believe in people over power. Thumbs up, like, and share.
