Throughout history, many unexplainable things have happened. Have you ever asked yourself
why certain things happen? How is it that someone can become a public figure amidst an
exorbitant number of lies and manufactured falsehoods? A crime of moral turpitude is defined
as an offense that is vile or an insult to morality. Such a crime typically involves fraud,
dishonesty, or anything that goes against societal norms. Why is it that a person such as this
can hold political office?
Why is it that certain experiences with law enforcement are handled totally differently based on
the ethnicity of the individual? Recently we all witnessed the horrible tragedy of what
happened to Tyre Nichols in Memphis, Tennessee. We know that the officers involved were
people of color. Swift action was taken toward those involved. However, in similar situations
when other officers were involved in wrongdoing it took months and sometimes years for
justice to be served if ever. The exception was the case of George Floyd which left no room for
seeing something other than the public lynching of a man by an unyielding, perpetrator of law
enforcement.
Why is it that oftentimes your zip code determines the price you pay for goods or services or if
you even have those goods or services in your area? My wife and I were once insured by a
major insurance carrier. During our twenty-plus years in our home, we never filed a claim. Out
of the blue, our policy was canceled. We later discovered that our zip code was the beginning
of the end of our coverage. Why should zip codes determine your insurability or anything else?
Why is it that I noticed someone in line in front of me making a purchase with a credit card?
When I moved up in line and presented my credit card for payment, I was asked to show
identification. Mind you I did not observe anyone before me being asked for identification.
Needless to say, I left the store, left the items, and did not patronize that merchant again.
The aforementioned are just a few glaring examples of the Why’s that I know most of us to know
the answer to. My suggestion is to be self-aware enough that you have the mental fortitude to
make decisions based on your best interests. My next suggestion is to empower yourself by
voting for the candidate that demands a change in law enforcement practices and advocates for
companies coming into communities of color that will offer goods and services at competitive
prices while concurrently providing equal respectful treatment. This scenario involves the
purchasing of products and services, clothing, groceries, and other needed commodities. If the
service is subpar, I say find providers that will provide goods, products, and services in addition
to treating you with dignity and respect. Use the same standards when choosing your political
representative. Don’t fall for all of the targeted falsehoods on social media. Seek knowledge,
ask questions and most of all observe your personal and political environment. Thumbs up, like, and share.
