What’s Going On?

As I surf the internet, watch the news, and peruse social media content I see a disturbing pattern. I ask
myself why is everyone so angry? People will shoot you for cutting them off in traffic, giving them the
wrong food in their order, because you “disrespected them”, because you said something they did not
like because you are a member of an opposing gang because you made a comment that offended
them, because of your gender, because of your religious affiliation, because of your race, because of
your sexual preference and so many other irrational reasons. Some have no reason for shooting others,
they do it just because. It’s like the wild, wild west. Even young kids have access to guns, and they will
use them. What happened to the time in our society when people said crazy, foolish things and you just
ignored them because you knew they were ignorant. I ask myself how did we get here? I feel there are
so many traumatized people out there. Their trauma gets played out in some of these unconscionable
acts that happen on a daily basis. Hurt people hurt people.
I want to live in a civilized society. This is what I do. When someone cuts me off in traffic I do not honk
my horn. When someone weaves in and out of traffic on the highway at an excessive speed I move out
of their way. When someone gets angry when I unintentionally do something in traffic I say nothing.
When someone drives into a parking space I was obviously waiting for I find another space to park in. I
take the path of least resistance. What’s going on? The world as we know it in this country has lost its’
mind. I will not let these other people drive me crazy. I plan the different tasks I have to do. I leave in
enough time, so I do not have to speed in traffic to get to my destination. I exercise patience while
standing in line. When others get loud and obnoxious, I do not respond in the same manner. I do not
judge. I accept people for who they are. When people show me who they are I believe them. I stay in
my lane. When people do not want my advice, I do not offer it. I do not loan more money than I can
afford to give away. I tell my friends and family the truth even when they do not want to hear it. I don’t
support anyone in their wrongdoing. I treat people the way I wish to be treated. By doing the
aforementioned I can somewhat control some things that happen or will happen. Patience is definitely
a virtue. In this time that we live in with so much going on let’s simply exercise patience and respect.
Thumbs up, like, and share.
