Clarence Thomas’s “Pull Yourself Up by Your Bootstraps”
In an interview many years back Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas admonished black folks and told them they need to not look to others but better yet, pull themselves up by their bootstraps. The problem is many of us don’t have boots. So much has been taken away. Our language from the motherland, our family connections, and once freed the land we acquired after slavery has been and is still being taken away. Now, our history is being whitewashed while this justice who has done nothing for black folks has the nerve to look down his nose at other black folks. The hypocrisy of it all. He has been skinning and grinning and taking gifts of lavish trips around the world from a major Republican donor. Do you think that this donor asked for something in return? Guess what? None of these trips that span over a decade were ever reported. The rules for the acceptance of gifts by Supreme Court Justices stated that any gift over four hundred fifteen dollars must be reported. Over a half million dollars in gifts via lavish trips on super yachts and the like. Those Thomas bootstraps gained a lot of revenue over the years while he continually admonishes black folks and the poor. Need I say more? Thumbs up, like, and share.
