Words Matter
Be mindful when conversing with others. Sometimes when interacting with others certain reactions can elicit unfavorable emotions. When this happens, most people have a tendency to speak before thinking, and an unfavorable response to an unfavorable action can cause chaos. Just remember that once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back. In the heat of the moment, things are said that oftentimes cause a sense of regret. There is an old saying that goes “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”. This is not true. Hurtful words have caused pain, heartache, and confusion. Hurtful words come when we let certain emotions overtake us. When we exercise discipline and control we think before speaking and measure the words that we say. By exercising discipline and control we can reduce or alleviate pain, heartache, and confusion. We are all imperfect individuals and will make mistakes. However, by thinking before we speak, we can avoid pitfalls like saying hurtful things. When we express ourselves in a non-combative manner it is a win-win situation for all involved. Let’s do a reset and speak words of love and kindness while nullifying destructive, negative words and not giving them the power to do harm. Thumbs up, like, and share!
