Paper Genocide
I heard the co-host of the view; Sunny Hostin use the term “paper genocide.” She then elaborated on the term as the banning and removal of Black history books and books by Black authors. I contend that this is being done for a reason. Black people as a race are making great strides. We are becoming business moguls, highly paid entertainers, scientists, entrepreneurs and generally touching many aspects of American life. Though the media portrays us as being out there committing crimes, acting ridiculous on reality shows, and acting just downright ignorant on occasions, we are not that. Guess what? The aforementioned behavior is indicative of all races, yet it seems exaggerated when it relates to Black people. We are perceived as a threat. As African Americans we need to reclaim our time in America. Let us take back our distinctive, yet tasteful style of dress, our innovative, groundbreaking genres of music, and our absolutely delectable cultural cuisine. Own all of these things attributed to our culture and never forget that we have just as much right to be in this country as anyone else. To all of the politicians and the sycophants who go along to get along with such ridiculous things as banning only Black people’s books and Black authors, I say, “You cannot erase the contributions that Black people have made to this country.” Get over it, we ain’t going nowhere! We will not allow you to erase our history. Thumbs up, like, and share.
