Affirmative Action is Gone
The Supreme Court just set limits on the use of race in college admissions. Many in the baby boomer generation benefitted from affirmative action at a time when people of color were unjustly discriminated against (and are still facing discrimination). People of color fought, went to jail and some even died to obtain the rights and freedoms that whites in this country always had. This decision proves there is no equal protection under the law.
This court is pushing against progress. This court seems to be on the side of those who want power and privilege. Clarence Thomas, the only black man on the court was in favor of this decision. His decision is no surprise as he does nothing to advance the cause of minorities here in America. Additionally, this opinion regarding affirmative action is not surprising based on other recent decisions made by this supreme court.
We are truly going backward here in America. People of color need to wake up, turn off the talk shows, the reality shows, and the game shows, stop binge-watching and really look and see what’s going on in this country. People of color are increasingly becoming more of a majority and the white population is becoming more of a minority in this country which makes them fearful. We need to vote, pay attention and continue to fight for our rights as they are steadily being taken away. Thumbs up, like, and share.
