America, the Land of Milk and Honey
Many people come to this country in search of freedom and the “American
Dream”. They come for a better way of life. They simply want to work, earn a
good living, and take care of their family. It appears that these days there are
many who want to erase this dream. They want to erase black history, and women’s
rights, replace calm with chaos, and generally trash the country. For all of its’
faults America can be a great place to live. Take away the racist, misogynistic,
homophobic individuals who feel they have the right to tell others how to live and
this country can thrive. However, each day it appears that the hateful rhetoric
intensifies. We now live in a country where many people feel they have been
wronged. It is all about perception and we are continually bombarded with
negative falsehoods that get repeated so often that naïve, uninformed people
begin to believe them. It is time for America to be what it once was as best it can.
Not too long ago you could get an education, learn a trade, or work your way up in
your chosen company and make a decent living. Now the pay is low for those on
the bottom and CEOs get the big pay and the big bonuses. How convoluted is
that? People work hard to make a company successful and the powers that be
don’t want to pay them a living wage. Many workers are getting behind their
Unions and asking for what they should rightfully receive in compensation for
the work they perform. When average working people get the pay they deserve it
makes this country better as a whole. Let us press on for fairness in all areas of
life for everyone who lives in this country. When this happens America will regain
the Land of Milk and Honey label it once had. It would be a good thing if all of the
people that want better unite and move towards peace, prosperity, and unity.
