Here are a few suggestions for securing your home….. Leaving your exterior lights on during the day can and will cause problems. During an interview with a person charged with burglary, he told me that he would look for homes with the exterior lights on in the middle of the day. According to this person, the being on during the day suggested that the homeowner possibly left during the early morning hours while it was still dark outside, and turn the exterior lights off when you leave home during the day. Lighting is important at night; criminals prefer to operate in darkness. Install motion lighting or flood lights around your home that come on at dark, and if you park your car in the driveway make sure that there is amp lighting around your vehicle. Shrubbery near windows should be below your windows that way, you can better observe things near your windows, and curtains or blinds should be closed once it gets dark, a person can see inside your home, but you can’t clearly see out. Please do not share your travel plans with others on social media, the bad guys are always looking for opportunities, so don’t give them one. Notify a trusted neighbor of your plans for vacation or being away for several days, the neighbor could collect your mail and turn on various interior lights in your home at night.
