February 6, 2024 ABCNEWS 4 in New York reported that a 62-year-old woman was dragged down a street in the city (New York) for her cell phone by cell phone thieves.
A few weeks ago a young man shared with me that his cousin was attacked and beaten for his (cousin) cell phone. No money or other valuables were taken just the cell phone.
ABCNEWS 4 in their reporting indicated that the theft of cell phones is a growing problem and that women are the primary target. These offenders are being paid as much as $100.00 per phone according to this report by ABCNEWS.
We must stay vigilant of our surroundings. I would also suggest that if possible when we are out in public space, and getting into our car, don’t sit in the car and make calls….doing so could put you at risk.
Our society has changed so much, not for the right reasons. A cell phone is property as well as a convenience but they (cell phones) are now jeopardizing our safety because of a small number of nonconformist thieves. Stay Vigilant at All Times !!
