Comfortable or Rich

I am sure that many of you like myself have heard utterances of being Comfortable or Being Rich! All of us should want to be comfortable but guess what, in the words of Les Brown, to live comfortably you have to be Rich!

I agree with Mr. Brown (Les Brown) that to be comfortable a person or family needs a lot of money to sustain the increases of the basic essentials (rent, food, clothing) of life. Perhaps I’m revealing my age but I recall when a two-bedroom apartment in an affluent community rented for about $175.00 per month. Today a one-bedroom apartment in a not-so-nice neighborhood is listed for about $1,600.00 per month.

Car payments have tripled, car insurance is beyond the average working person’s reach, food costs are at an all-time high, and so is gas for our cars. This list of goods as well

 as services extend further than the ones listed here.

The one constant factor in this equation is salary which has not changed very much. For things to begin to change the means for most of us is to become more financially aware (create a strategy), and be consistent with your strategy. There is power in numbers, get your family involved with learning financial awareness. Read books on stock investing, Score a government agency that offers free classes and a mentor on starting a business, and follow people who are business owners, investors, or involved in real estate. You don’t want to follow people who only talk about what they want. 

I have also learned from Les Brown that you can tell who a person is by the way they spend their time. For instance, a person says that he or she wants to own their own business but they spend their time going to clubs, having to be at all of the social events, and doing drugs. This tells us who that person really is. The point of this narrative is to bring awareness to be able to just be comfortable in our day-to-day living.
