Reflection

Reflection

“Serious Thought or Consideration…… As I sit here reflecting on life and the universe, the notion that the wealth gap has always and continues to position people of color at a huge disadvantage. The reasons are too great to cover in this narrative; however, let’s examine the ways that other ethnic groups build wealth.

Power in numbers……. Other groups ( Jews, whites, Asians…ect) support each other, for instance, these groups buy from each other, they create their own supply change, form civic organizations to have their concerns heard by politicians, they have rules of conduct within their communities, and they have their own schools.

They open businesses in Black neighborhoods but don’t allow Blacks to open businesses in their communities. These groups that conduct business in Black communities rarely give back to the area that they do business in. These groups ( other ethnic groups) usually only employ their own people; therefore, money is being taken out of the Black communities but nn monies are being returned for future  growth in the area of people of color.

My takeaway is this……It’s time that people of color began to understand that by working together more can be accomplished. We have to support our black owned businesses, and know that Black owned operations might charge more but they can’t compete with larger companies, that’s why small businesses charge  more. By creating Black owned businesses, those owners can employ people from the communities that they operate in. Let’s stop waiting for others to take care of us. We must have real conversations as well as support each other, build our own infrastructure, and stop thinking that we as a people can’t work together. Until next time….
