The website Quora defines a good father as one (father) that plays an active role in the lives of their kids. As I look back through the lens of life, my father did not have an active role in my siblings or my life..

The absence of our father placed huge responsibilities on our mother and I often wondered what life would have been like with him (our father) being in our lives. 

I became a father at a very young age and I wanted to be a good father but fell short on fatherhood. My idea once I became a father was to take care of my daughters material needs. I truly did not consider that time was more important because with time, we could grow as father and daughter. 

There are several people that are very dear to me that understood what fatherhood is and they structured their lives to being good fathers. Their children are what they cherish, and spending time with their kids is first in their lives.

Being a good father is more than providing a child with material things, time is the most important thing a father or mother can give a child. Time allows you the opportunity to be active with your child by having discussion, exploring new things, teaching your child and much more. 

Let’s all be good fathers….. By putting our kids in a position to be successful, spending quality time with our offspring. My regret is that I did not give my daughter the time that she deserved.
