Taxation
Taxation is defined as the imposition of compulsory levies on individuals or entities by governments in almost every country of the world. Taxation is used primarily to raise revenue for government expenditures, though it can serve other purposes as well.
There is no question that government need funds or monies to perform services such as education, health care, fire and police services but my opposition is in how local governments continue to levy higher taxes on hard working citizens
I recently attended a board of commissioners meeting and these elected officials are asking for a 31.960 mileage rate increase which will be the highest mileage rate in metro Atlanta. There are other processes that should be explored, for instance, in Clayton County, Ga. There are hundreds of vacant warehouses, so it is my opinion that the commissioners of Clayton County should use their positions to attract new businesses to these unoccupied units which will create jobs. These new jobs could then attract other small businesses that would help fund the local government via business taxes.
The price of homes continues to increase as well as property taxes, and using the local citizens as an ATM is so unfair. The rising property taxes are forcing many people into homelessness. Get the businesses to give back to the communities where they (businesses) make their money.
