The Kind of Country I Want to Live In
When I wake up in the morning I want to know with confidence that my freedoms remain
intact. I do not want the government to dictate what is done to a woman’s body. I want
to be able to read a wide selection of books. I want to be able to read about the history
of America without it being whitewashed. I want our Supreme Court to have Justices
with integrity that cannot be bought with expensive trips. I want the Supreme Court
Justices to be unbiased and not make decisions based on political affiliation or an
unfounded obligation to the individual that appointed them. I want to know that in these
United States of America that I will not be judged based on my color, creed , gender,
sexual orientation, or immigration status. I want to know that I will receive equal justice
if I have to go before the courts. I want to be taxed fairly and not have to shoulder the
tax burden of the rich because politicians gave them an enormous tax break. I want to
be paid fairly for the job that I perform. I want to know that I will always have health
insurance and not have to worry about a medical issue being the source of bankruptcy. I
want my children to grow up in a country with drinkable water and an environment that
does not have extreme temperatures in both summer and winter. I do not want my
power to vote to be taken away or watered down by gerrymandering or draconic laws
that cater to a power grabbing , weird , out of control political party. What kind of
country do you want to live in? Do your research. Do not take anything at face value.
Make your decision at the voting booth in November. For me it is a binary decision. I
will vote for the forward-thinking party. I refuse to go backwards. Peace and love.
