Gun Violence 

Violence in this country is at an all time high. It’s shocking knowing that our younger generation are being lost to gun violence.

As of April 2024 there were 5, 043 gun related deaths in the US according to an article published by Pew Research Center. This is an alarming number of gun related deaths for the first quarter of the year.

In my home state of Georgia which has some of the weakest gun laws, 70 teens have lost their lives due to gun violence according to a report done by WSBTV which was aired on June 4, 2024. It seems that these numbers continue to grow by the day.

Because of the open carry laws in Georgia, police officers can’t stop or question a person for having a handgun, and this maybe another reason for the spike in gun related deaths

The gun issue is one that the public needs to get more involved with by exercising their voting rights because our local and state law-makers are the ones that passed open-carry laws in Georgia, so voting matters!!
