Reflecting

Reflecting

As I quietly sat at my desk a video that I watched a week ago keeps reappearing in my thoughts. Each morning at 10am Dr. Boyce Watkins holds a financial consciousness zoom meeting or training and this training focuses on being financially aware.

The video that was shared by Dr. Watkins appeared on B-Lux TV. In the video a young woman showed an apartment that she rents for $7,600 a month. According to this woman she was attracted to the unit (apartment) for its view of the city as well as the vaulted ceilings.

If the view and the ceilings make this young lady happy then I’m happy for her but from a financial perspective this makes no sense. Renting a unit for $7,600 a month equals $91,200.00 a year and you get nothing in return for your investment but a view.

The average mortgage payment is around $1000 to $1,200 monthly, in addition you will one day own your home but renting has the opposite effect (nothing in return).

Whatever makes a person happy is all that matters but financially you’re giving away large sums of money for a view. Please take better control of your financial health.
