The reshaping of our federal government should concern all Americans, especially those in the middle class or living near the poverty line. Since January 2025, the Trump administration has implemented or proposed several policies that directly impact federal assistance programs.
Cuts in federal staffing and resources have disrupted global efforts to combat hunger, disease, and poverty. Domestically, Medicaid faces drastic reductions, with proposed per-capita caps and work requirements slashing funding by $2.3 trillion. Nutrition assistance programs, including SNAP, are also under attack, making it harder for millions of Americans to access healthy food. The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, which provides critical nutritional support to low-income families, is set to be reduced as well.
These programs are lifelines for countless families—not just in the U.S. but around the world. When billionaires take control of the government, their focus isn’t on the average citizen. And let’s be clear—those who supported this administration are not exempt from its consequences. You, too, are just a pawn in their game.
