The Value of Time.

The Value of Time

Time is the one thing we all have in common—but how we choose to use it makes all the difference.

I think back to my younger years and remember one particular incident that taught me a valuable lesson. My mother had asked me to go pay a utility bill. I had the money and the time to get it done, but on my way there, I ran into some guys from the neighborhood. Instead of handling my responsibility, I chose to hang out with them. The bill didn’t get paid, and I ended up wasting the money. That moment was a serious misuse of both time and money.

As I grew older, I began to notice others around me making the same kinds of decisions. I watched hardworking men in my community who would spend countless hours just hanging out, drinking liquor. They put in the effort at work but gave away the rest of their time like it had no value.

Beyond that, I saw people waste entire days in front of the television, flipping through channels or binge-watching shows. While a little entertainment is fine, losing hours every day to screens and idle conversation is a silent time killer. Time slips away quietly when we’re not paying attention, and before we know it, years have passed without real progress.

The truth is, nothing great happens overnight. To become a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, or any other professional, it takes time—and more importantly, it takes wise use of that time. How we spend our hours usually determines what we become.

It took me a while to understand the real value of time. But once I did, I started to see better outcomes for myself and my family. Time is an investment. When used wisely, it pays off.

Please, don’t waste your time. It’s far too valuable to throw away.
