Defending The Constitution:

In a recent interview with the president of El Salvador at the White House, the current administration made a shocking statement: they are considering sending U.S. citizens who have committed violent crimes to serve time in prisons in El Salvador. This suggestion is deeply troubling and raises serious constitutional concerns.

It is no secret that this administration has repeatedly acted outside the boundaries of the U.S. Constitution. And with some courts appearing to align with these blatant violations, they continue to erode the rights of the people.

Let’s be clear: Due Process as outlined in the 5th and 14th Amendments guarantees that the government must follow fair procedures before depriving anyone of life, liberty, or property. The 8th Amendment protects against cruel and unusual punishment—meaning any punishment must be proportionate and humane. The 6th Amendment guarantees the right to a fair trial, which includes being tried in a U.S. court, by a jury of peers, with access to legal representation and evidence.

Sending American citizens to a foreign country as a form of punishment—especially without a trial or formal legal agreement—would violate all of these rights. It’s unconstitutional, unethical, and un-American.

We know that at least one person has already suffered from this type of cruel and unjust action. The very idea that this could become a broader policy should alarm every citizen. This is not just about politics; it’s about preserving the rights that define our country.

The people of this great nation must stand up, speak out, and demand that such possibilities are never allowed to become reality. We must defend our Constitution and the rights of every American citizen—no matter what they are accused of.
