My Big Regret!

A few days ago, I shared an article about what kids really want from their parents. One key message stood out: kids want your time.

If I could turn back the hands of time, one of my biggest priorities would be spending more of it with my children and family. Like many of us, I spent my early years focused on work, believing that providing financially was enough. I didn’t realize that giving my children my presence—not just my paycheck—would have been the most valuable thing I could offer.

When a parent is absent, even if it’s unintentional, a disconnect forms. You may live under the same roof, but emotionally, you’re strangers. I recently listened to a podcast where a father admitted he hardly knew his kids. Despite working hard and providing for them, he was never around. His children felt like they didn’t know their own father. That moment hit me hard—because I’ve lived that same reality.

If you’re a parent reading this, please take this to heart: your children want you. They want your time, your attention, and your love. The moments you spend with them now will shape your relationship for life. Don’t let time slip away. Be present. Be intentional. Because, in the end, that’s what truly matters.
