Teaching our Kids the Power of AI…..

Some people believe that using artificial intelligence (AI) is cheating. They think it takes away from learning or doing things “the hard way.” But in reality, AI is just another step forward in human progress — a tool that helps us work smarter, not lazier.

I recently heard an educator explain that when calculators were first invented, many people believed they would destroy the need for mathematicians. Teachers and professionals feared that people would forget how to do math. But that didn’t happen. Instead, calculators helped people handle complex problems more efficiently. Math didn’t disappear — it evolved. People learned to use technology to expand what was possible.

The same thing is happening with AI today. Artificial intelligence is not replacing human creativity or intelligence — it’s enhancing them. It allows us to research faster, organize ideas better, and create new products or services in record time. More importantly, it gives young people a huge advantage if they learn how to use it early.

There’s a story about a 17-year-old named Nick D’Aloisio, who developed a news summary app called Summly. His app caught the attention of major tech companies, and he eventually sold it to Facebook for millions of dollars. Nick didn’t wait until college to start exploring technology. He used his curiosity, creativity, and access to modern tools to solve a problem others found useful. That’s the kind of opportunity AI brings — it allows young people to build something valuable from their ideas.

Teaching our children AI skills is not just about learning to use a new tool. It’s about preparing them for the future economy. Businesses are already using AI for customer service, marketing, design, and even content creation. The young people who understand how to work with AI will have the power to start a business, create jobs, or build wealth at a very young age.

Of course, not everyone will embrace this new technology — just like not everyone wanted to learn computers when they first appeared. But technology isn’t slowing down for anyone. Those who resist learning it will find themselves left behind, while those who adapt and innovate will lead the next generation.

That’s why we should be encouraging our children to explore AI — not to fear it. Let’s teach them how to ask the right questions, use the right tools, and think critically about the information AI provides. When used responsibly, AI can help them learn faster, create smarter, and dream bigger.

The future will belong to those who understand technology, not those who avoid it. If we start teaching our kids today how to use AI wisely, we’re not only preparing them for better jobs — we’re helping them build better lives.

At VMG Review, we believe in educating our youth for the future ahead — where knowledge, innovation, and technology work hand in hand to build a better world.
