Building Power The Powernomics Way!!!

Dr. Claude Anderson’s book PowerNomics continues to open our eyes to truths many people never wanted us to understand. He explains that progress does not happen by accident—it happens when a group understands how power works, how economics work, and how society is structured to keep certain people at the bottom. In our last blog, we touched on some of these ideas. Today, we want to go deeper.

Dr. Anderson reminds us that wealth is not just about money. Wealth is about resources, ownership, access, and control. For generations, Black people in America were denied all four. We were locked out of fair opportunities, pushed into poverty, and used to build wealth for everyone except ourselves. Even today, the majority society benefits from systems designed long before we were born, and many other cultural groups support their own interests while expecting us to survive without the same foundation.

One of Dr. Anderson’s strongest points is that Black communities must stop relying on outside forces to save us. He makes it clear: no one is coming. The government is not coming. Corporations are not coming. Other racial groups are not coming. If we do not focus on building our own economic base, we will continue to fall further behind.

He also explains that we must practice group economics—circulating our money within our own community, building businesses, supporting each other, and creating institutions that will outlive us. According to PowerNomics, a dollar should pass through a community several times before leaving. But in our community, the dollar leaves almost immediately. That means the wealth we produce benefits everyone else more than it benefits us.

Dr. Anderson says, “If Black people want justice, they must first get wealth. Without wealth, there is no power, and without power, there is no justice.” This statement is not only powerful—it is a roadmap. It tells us that financial strength is tied to political strength, safety, respect, and opportunity.

This blog is not just information; it is a call to action for every family, every parent, every young person trying to find their footing. Read PowerNomics. Talk about it with your children. Teach them the importance of ownership and protecting what they build. If we start now, we can shift the future for generations.
