The race for governor of the state of Georgia is officially underway! The election will take place in November 2022. Now is the time that we must get involved to ensure that the outcome is fair and just. Most organizations are like pyramids, meaning that at the bottom of the structure are the individuals that perform the leg work, in the middle are those that implement the strategies, and at the top are those who finance the operation. We must understand our position in this formation and begin the work that is needed to select the most appropriate candidate (Stacy Abrams) as our next governor. Ms. Abrams is educated, articulate, and has already initiated numerous programs that help Georgia citizens socially and economically.
A few days ago, one of the Republican candidates (David Perdue) stated during a press conference that there is no way that he will allow Stacy Abrams to be the governor of the state of Georgia. What does this mean? I was under the impression that the people of Georgia selected the governor of the state. Let us be clear, Donald Trump backs Perdue. Based on this fact we know that he and his supporters will do any and everything to stop Ms. Abrams from rightfully becoming the governor. We cannot and must not allow the fakery of the concocted rhetoric about the past election to thwart our collective energy towards doing the right thing. We must strive to elect a leader who believes in policies that are by the people and for the people.
The time is now for us to get involved to move this state in a more positive, unified direction. Those of us with voting-aged children and grandchildren that are not registered to vote, get them registered. Talk with your neighbors about the importance of this election. Some of us may have family in rural Georgia cities and towns. Talk with these relatives about organizing in their communities and give them strategies to remain safe while doing this. Get involved with the campaign of Stacy Abrams. Make phone calls, knock on doors to encourage others to vote, contribute financially to Ms. Abrams’ campaign. Ensure that you have proper identification. Check the voter registration page to ensure that your status as a Georgia voter is still active. Check to see what voting precinct you are assigned to well before election day. If you were formerly incarcerated, on parole or probation check to see if you can vote. If you are able, get registered as soon as possible.
Having David Perdue in office will be more of the same. As a senator, he failed his constituents. He did not stand up for better healthcare, expanding Medicaid nor did he meet with constituents. Purdue continues to participate in the big lie that the election of the President and Georgia Senators was not legitimate. Purdue continues to espouse inflammatory rhetoric that further divides us. The time is now, get involved. We would love to hear your comments regarding this post. We would appreciate your feedback. Thumbs-up, like, share, and please subscribe.
