Bad Times, Seek Better

Bad times, Seek Better

Growing up around Springtime I always heard “March winds and April showers
bring May flowers”. The Cherokee name for the moon in March is “windy moon”.
The elders often spoke using proverbs, which are short sayings that express a
general truth or advice. Now I will expound on a “wind related” proverb. It states,
“it’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good”. This phrase indicates that even the
most negative situations can benefit someone. For instance, the passing of a
loved one can bring families closer together. When you fail to get your dream job
you are a bit disappointed. You continue looking. You eventually find a much
better job. If you’d gotten the first job, you would have missed out on the much
better job. A friend of mind lost the home he acquired during his marriage when
he divorced. He loved living in that home. Fast forward a few years later and he
acquired a much nicer home. You experienced a failed relationship with someone
you really cared about. You feel bad and you are heartbroken. Ultimately you
meet your true soul mate, and you are happier than you’ve been in a very long
time. If the first relationship had not ended, you would have never met your true
soul mate. The moral to this story is “even in the worst of situations some good
can emerge”. Don’t ever stop looking for good, even in bad times.

  1. Nice message, good and bad don’t go together. The cards we are dealt we must know to play them. There is always a winner and a loser. You have to decide what you want. Then own it and be your best you.
